Operator SFP Online has secured an online gambling licence from the Comissão de Jogos do Turismo de Portugal.

The licence will enable SFP to roll out its Casino Portugal online sportsbook and casino in the country.

The permit covers internet sports betting as well as online slots, blackjack, baccarat and a number of roulette formats.

SFP’s new licence came into effect on 28 July and runs for a period of three years.

Portugal online gaming revenue up 24.8% in Q1

The addition of SFP and its Casino Portugal brand will further extend the Portuguese online gambling market.

During the first quarter, online betting and gaming in the country generated €196.4m (£169.4m/$215.4m) in gross gaming revenue.

According to Portugal’s Gaming Regulation and Inspection Service (SRIJ), this was an increase of 24.8% from the same period in 2022. It was a slight improvement of €195.3m from Portuguese operations in Q4 2022.

Online sports betting GGR made up €85.7m of the total, while other online activities accounted for €110.7m.
